TKAM Section 2:
I don't know why but I keep thinking that the main character is a girl and then I read parts that make it sound like a boy. Then I get confused. I constantly change my mind from girl to boy then boy to girl and I don't know what to do, but what I like about this character, (I'm sorry but I forgot the character's name but I promise I'm reading the book), is the change that he/she is going through. I realizes that there are certain things that makes me believe this person is going through like the transition from grade level to another grade level and the snow fall that they experience that winter. The narrator makes us know about the change that they're experiencing by explaining how they feel throughout the whole section. I thought it was cool to notice the change that the character goes through and I reflect how I saw things as memories flash by.

The main character is a girl. HER name is Scout.
ReplyDeleteYes, Scout is a girl - her real name is Jean Louise Finch. I like what you said Ahmed about the transitions in the seasons and with school. What do you think the author's purpose is by being so specific about seasons?
ReplyDeleteIn the beginning of the book I was also confused about who was telling the story. I do remember, though, when Jem would constantly tell Scout to stop acting like a girl, so I see where you're coming from. In regards to Scout's transition of growing up, I noticed her changing perspective on life. Since she was young, she always had a more mature point of view, yet this curious aspect to her surroundings. I enjoyed reading about her experiences in regards to her reflections and her changing views of Boo Radley.
ReplyDeleteAhmed-
ReplyDeleteI found Harper Lee's attention to certain details very interesting, as they ended up coming back in later parts of the book. It was also fascinating to see how the characters changed, particularly to see how the kids matured.
