The Road
I believe that the greatest adversity that the man has faced was seeing his wife walk away. From what I understood his wife left and decided to end her life. The man could have decided to follow the same steps as his wife but he chose to stay alive for his son. The choice that he made has proven to be full of hardship yet he clings to his life in a selfless matter. He lives for his son and even though it seems that he is going nowhere, there is no destination in his choice he keeps moving forward.

Arlene, I agree that it was a pretty big adversity for the man to see his wife give up. Although I see another adversity for the father having to survive in such a cruel world while raising his son so they don't end up being like the 'bad guys'.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you both, Arlene and Yoaly. At one point the man has two bullets in his gun and could have shot his son and himself and given up at that point. He instead saved his son and continues to push on, showing his son glimpses of good things in life, like the waterfall or even the can of soda.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Arlene, the man's wife leaving him and his son was something that would have cause many people to give up, yet he didn't. This also wasn't the only bad thing going on in the man's life. He's living in a world where everyone fears each other so him not giving up in life for his son is a sign of adversity that the man is living
