Ryan - How To Kill A Mockingbird Section 4
The remaining chapters of the book filled me with surprise through the twists and turns it took after the trial. What stood out to me the most however was when Scout finally decided to look at the world through Boo Radely's eyes. This drastic change in view point led her to understand why Atticus disapproved of her shenanigans to investigate the Radely household as well as understand why Boo did what he did for years. This also shows a signal of maturity of Scout as she begins to understand what thinking like a Maycomb resident actually is, now viewing why people treated certain things in the town such as the Radely household as the norm.

I agree. The encounter with Boo Radely was heavily foreshadowed, with Scout's ideas of mystery going from fear to curiosity. The end to this mystery is used to demonstrate a major theme of the book: Understanding.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that this was an interesting change in the story, but I do feel the only reason why Scout is now mature enough to look at the world through different points of views is because Atticus has taught her to be open to others.
