Vianca- Section 3
Atticus Finch may be one of the best characters in this novel. His demeanor in the court case and the way he carried out his argument was superb. Even Judge Taylor knew this and allowed him to proceed as he wished. However, I feel it necessary to mention that Dill was able to return to Maycomb on his own after feeling lonely with his family. He always received material gifts from them and not very much attention. This pushed him to run away and seek more intimate human contact which I believe to be a natural human trait. Then as he explains to Scout why he ran off it makes you wonder exactly what Scout asks Dill: "Why do you reckon Boo Radley's never run off?" To which Dill replies: "Maybe he doesn't have anywhere to run off too..." A fact that seems to be very plausible since both his parents are dead and all he had left is his brother. I believe this to be a very good point that is made since humans can't survive alone.

I agree that Atticus might be one of the characters in the book, during the trial for example Atticus knows that he can not possibly win but yet he continues to give as much evidence as possible.
ReplyDeleteI feel like Aunt Alexandra is used in this section to further display Atticus's character and how he manages to keep composed when things don't necessarily go his way. As Aunt Alexandra comes to the Finch's home and tries to become the dictator of his household, Atticus becomes a little passive, which is an unseen aspect of him up to this point.
