TKAM 3 Brandon Prasouvo

This section felt like it really emphasized on morality with tidbits of Maycomb's society. Atticus isn't really perceived of being a racist, but he doesn't turn his back on his backward thinking neighbors either. I think it is really good for Scout and Jem to see that times are changing and that everyone is getting into touch with their own morals. For example, in a earlier chapter of this section, Jem stands up to his father and really embodies strength in protecting the family outside the prison. We also see Scout getting into touch with the need to protect her loved ones in this scene as well. Aunt Alexandra seems has a traditional mindset, telling Scout that she needs to be more lady like and to change her habits. But, Scout thinks that this way of thinking isn't the best, so she ignores it and continues to be herself. This disregard of traditional values give compliment to the strengthening of individual morality, and hopefully unites the rest of the characters so the town of Maycomb can start to go forward in the future.
